That magical moment of meeting your newborn is close and you’re so excited that you don’t know what to do first. You should make sure you take care of any details regarding the safety and comfort of your baby before the last weeks of your pregnancy. This way, you will be able to focus on every detail, you can be sure that every little thing is taken care of, and your only concern will be to admire and love your baby.
1. The baby’s room
We know that you’ve already painted the baby’s room with the most beautiful colors and sceneries, and the furniture has been picked since the day one you’ve found out you were pregnant, but there are some details that will certainly make the difference. You should make sure your baby’s room is packed with baby clothes like one-piece suits and clothes with snap closures, towels, baby toiletries, baby wipes and, of course, diapers. You should decide in advance what types of diapers you would like to use. The most popular and qualitative brands are Pampers and Huggies, so usually the new moms decide between these two brands. Of course, there are many other diaper brands out there, beside Pampers and Huggies, so you can choose whatever you like most, but make sure you decide before bringing your baby home.
You should also make sure the baby’s room has an appropriate lighting system, and don’t forget to install a baby monitor. Adding a rocking chair to your baby’s room setting will be an inspired choice for both you and your baby’s comfort.
2. Choose a formula
We know that there are so many types of formula available that is quite a challenge to choose the right one for your baby. That is why you should do some research before buying the formula you are going to feed your baby with, and to take into consideration aspects like the basic formula types, quality of the ingredients, your baby’s pediatrician recommendation (it is advisable to choose a pediatrician before your baby is born). Every formula is different but, basically, formulas like Nestle, Similac, Enfamil or Heinz, meet all the basic nutritional needs of your baby. You can find cow’s milk-based, soy, lactose-free, added rice starch, elemental and amino acid based formulas. You will also find a formula especially created for premature babies. Due to all these aspects, it is important to do your research in advance and be prepared for the moment when you will start feeding your baby.
3. Don’t forget about the breastfeeding and bottle feeding products
You should also do a research on the breastfeeding and bottle feeding products and select the ones that you consider to be the best for you. You should check and read about the fabrics used for making a bottle feeder, and make sure you find a reliable breast pump. Also consider buying breast feeding accessories like milk containers and nursing pads. Don’t choose a product just because of its price. You need to make the feeding process as safe as possible for your baby. Make sure you buy a sterilizer, and it would be wise to also acquire a bottle warmer. It would make things a lot simpler for you.
